When I was a teenager I had a very specific idea of what “Grown Up” looked like. I imagined myself as some kind of unspecified executive, doing a job that probably involved going for lunches in smart restaurants and picking things up from “my dry cleaner”, or ideally having my secretary do it for me.

This is the sort of dress I imagined myself wearing whilst doing these things. Super smart, unusual (is it a coat or a dress?) and kinda expensive even with 20% off.

I would wear this with a bit of a 60s feel with black patent shoes and a silk scarf at the neckline, and one of those big swingy “carry your life in it” bags that imaginary fancy executive me carrys.
